Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
